One of those 17 gazillion species of insects you don't know the name of let alone knew existed until you saw it for the first time. And you're hoping it's one of those rare 'licking' insects and not one of those 'inflicts a horrible and painful bite' chomping insects. Then you're wondering what am I doing so close to this potentially dangerous creature? He looks harmless enough so you chance it. But how was I to know he had problems of his own?

Is that blood showing down his back/wing. Maybe he was attacked by a bigger bugger. Nice detail, Wendell.

It looks like one of the wasp that are call parasitic they paralyse there pray the bury the body after laying eggs in them.Great macro photo and the detail is outstanding and when enlarged it prevented better my friend.Plus don't touch read a book first lol.
