Usually nothing good comes of things rustling in the bushes. It's a well known locale of lions, tigers, bears, solicitors, politicians and photographers. Any of which can be dreadful to encounter in the underbrush. So that pretty much explains why I was there, being a member of at least one of those groups.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Awesome presentation of the wood pecker, Wendell. Love the colors and the lighting. Also, I love the angle of the shot. Kudos.

Woodpecker looks good against that colorful background Wendell. If the focus was good enough you could have shown it a little bigger. Nice lighting too.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Wonderful capture of this cute little woodpecker, Wendell. I like the fall leaves around, especially those little guys just above the bird that are in focus.

Almost like a spotlight on this woodpecker- excellent color and light and I assume you may enter this in the contest.

This is excellent in my opinion, the focus on the woody, and how he is highlighted, and then of course the wonderful earthly colors around him, bravo! tigs=^..^=

Stunning looking capture it like the woodpecker is in a secret area of the woods well away from the so called madning crowd like as you say ,photography's solicitors and so on not to mansion loins and bears. You can almost feel the silence in this photo and the warm sun that bathes the area.Well done to great detail colours light and compstion Wendell.

I don't see this one in the contest (maybe not just yet) but it is very apparent that the woodpecker has picked it to win!!! Best wishes. ~~ John
