This big oak finally went down, luckily away from my shack during the recent hurricane. The broad but shallow root system was saturated with rain water followed by the constant strain of wind at the top, eventually blowing it over, taking with it the electric and OMG, the internet cable!

I've heard about folks pulling up roots and leaving, but this is ridiculous Lt. Dan. Great shot and you can still see its fingers clinging to the earth. I hope no one was hurt.
Excellent shot.

WOW! That was a big one to go over. I'm always amazed at how tall a tree stands and how little the root system is. Awesome shot.

Dan - Hopefully, no one was hurt by the falling tree - it is a big 'un. By now, the Internet service is back up and running, (or you are living at the local coffee shop that offers free wi-fi). Thad
