I gained some more inspiration to find a photo that I had from years back. Recently Nikoneer submitted "Overgrown History." This in turn reminded me of a photo I took in 2003 of an old tractor that had been by the side of the road about 10 miles from here. I am strongly assuming this tractor was used for making logging trails back in the 40s and 50s. I haven't been back to this area in years because there is a 3 mile dirt road going back and it has many large pot holes. This was take at Dead River State Park Dec 2003.

Ironic it should be left to deteriorate in a place called 'Dead River' State park...kind of sad to see this once hard working vehicle rusting and abandoned.

I like the warm, almost sepia, color in this, Alex. It embraces the deep rust of the relic.

I'm surprised that this wasn't more overgrown by this point. You'd think the plants would cherish taking revenge on a machine that once ripped them down, huh? :)

Yes. It probably is still there. If so, it is mostly sunk into the ground at this point if someone hasnt hauled it out of there. As mentioned, it's been over 15 years since I've been there so who knows? I used Picasa to adjust lighting and add the 1960`s effect

I'm curious too Alex, whether this relic is still there or meanwhile is sunk in the swampy (?) soil.
Perfect editing to give this image a both nostalgic and warm effect.
Well done!

Light is terrific in this capture, amazing how nature kind of takes over. Composition really pulls you in. Bravo!

It could have been a steam roller used for building roads. Good find and capture from 2003.

Great shot and like the rustic colours showing us just how old this relic is
