While walking around certain parts of the swamp you'll hear pig frogs. They are known for loud vocalisations that sound a little like a pig grunting. This photo was taken at Lettuce Lake at the cypress dome May 2016. here is an ok, but not great capture of what the pig frog sounds like

Very good shot with nice details on the"pig". I suppose there are no alligators in that area :)

Alex, thanks for this very fine photograph and narrative (inclusive the link).
I've check-out the link, and could hear instantly that the weeping 'voice' of the frog had similarities with the human voice. Do me suppose that you didn't depict only a frog, but an 'incognito prince' too, ☺ .
I was told that, in order to proof this, it should have been kissed, but I realize that it's somewhat too far, ☺ ☺ ☺ !,
Very detailed one as well, my friend.

Excellent shot of all the color and detail of this frog...I do hope this attractive fellow doesn't run into problems with alligators.

Excellent capture of this frog with great details Alex. I even see a bee or wasp body in the water to the left.

A very handsome frog indeed, Alex - Great capture - he looks as though he has some iridescent markings on his skin - like the surrounding water, bubbles and plant growth as well!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent shot of this Pig Frog and you can tell the different between them and the Bull Frog. The Pig Frog has a noticeably pointy snout compared with the rounded snout of the bullfrog, plus colouring and other facts.

Thanks for this fabulous close up - Bravo my friend

thats one great shot! frogs are hard to sneak up on with a camera. I never heard of a pig frog before, south thing only maybe? bull frog, green frog, ect...all your common ones, but never this one. very very nice capture!

What a gorgeous photograph, Alex! Truly excellent.

I had to laugh when I played your sound bite. They really do sound like pigs!! It's hard to believe that such an unattractive sound could emerge from such a handsome fellow ... of course, a female pig frog might feel differently about it!

Give me the pleasant bass, rumbling "bah-RUUMP!" of a bullfrog anyday!
