Along with our alligators this animal is a true Florida native the White Ibis. These birds have been here since Florida was a sand bar protruding from the Gulf of Mexico in warm shallow waters. The Mockingbird is the current state bird but the Ibis comes across as a bird that has seen it all. I like their personality. They are a mellow bird, not destructive. Sometimes they'll stand in your way while driving or walking and act like, "Oh, sorry am I in your way?" haha. They make a soft "hunk" sound in groups and are very social birds. There has been some talk about making it the state bird, but with everything else taking place, I'm sure that's real low in the list.

Love these birds even more since reading your very informative narrative Alex - would be so onice if Florida made the White Ibis the state bird as he deserves to be - Great Capture!!!!!!!!!

Alex, what you've done to come this Ibis that far? (☺)
Excellent 'portrait' of this friendly flying Floridian phenomenon.
Good and, to a certain extent, funny narrative, my friend!

To me, these birds always have a somewhat comical, bewildered look about them, lol...cute shot, Alex!
