Another view looking the opposite direction from Symmonds Yat Rock. The river curves all the way around this high ground and the River Wye is very famous for being ultimately beautiful and a wonderful place to kayak or canoe.

Rachel, I know that you appreciate a honest, but positive and/or a constructive comment. So, let me give it a try. Please know, that I don't pretend to be a specialist!

First of all: I love your very fine image! It's a good one. Think however that small enhancements could have been possible. Therefore I like to give you some advice which can possibly (if you like to agree with me) be used on your next photo trip. If I hadn't read the title, I would have advised you to add more of the wonderful foreground in it, because your image would have become not only more attractive than it already is, but you would have created a scenery with more depth in it.

Than my second point: your title indicates that he main subject of your image is the kayaking people. If so, I would either have cropped the image somewhat to make the kayakers bigger, because even on full screen size they are rather small, or I would have used a bigger tele lens or I had chosen, if possible, a position closer to the kayakkers.
Again I must say that I like to give you only an advice, it's fully up to you whether you will use or ignore it.
Thanks anyhow for your done effort in order to offer us this nice photograph.

Regards, Cornelius.

Well, Rachel...

You learn something new every day. Cornelius is one of the best photographers on Caedes; so I'd listen to any suggestions he might make. Snapshooter87 (Doug) is also very good about making constructive suggestions and oftentimes sends me my shots re-edited to explain exactly what he meant in his critique. Doug has helped me immensely. If Cornelius didn't already have 6 billion Caedes friends, I would add him to my list.

Personally I like your shot. I like the perspective but am afraid of heights. They make me dizzy and nauseous. Your shot made me puke all over my monitor.

Excellent advice has already been meted out. So there's really nothing I can add outside of perhaps crop the flowers out of the shot. A lovely capture of the river and forest.
