I personally cant stop looking at this shot. I love the light and shadown and the majestic gritstone escarpments that seem to alternate left and right across the landscape. Hope you enjoy it as much as i do! Helpful critique welcome and warmly recieved :)

Rachel, think that you've showed us here very well that the use of the 'rule of thirds' is not always a proper choice. If you had used this 'dogma', the image would have lost a part of the dramatic sky and the landscape would have become somewhat boring. On the other hand, giving the sky more room would have resulted in that the main subject in your composition was devaluated to a minor role. Now, to me, the balance is correct.

So, a very good use of your artistic freedom and a very good result.

Regards, Cornelius.

I agree with Mr. C. this is the best so far in my book, I might have tried cloning out the bird poo or ? on the rock on the left. The depth is excellent in this one my friend. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I see the long trail to the right of the photo Rachel, so you did a lot of walking huh, rather you than me. (o: . A lovely wild landscape well captured, perhaps a little image sharpening, and a few clicks of contrast would make your upload more dynamic.

Rachel... I downloaded your image and then played with it according to some suggestions above... used Levels (moving left to the right a bit and right to the left a bit less) then sharpened edges. I then did the PR work to remove that distraction. The levels work removed some of the haze that was up-front.  ☺

Wow, this is quite a heady shot. You have caught not only the height to which you climbed to take this, but the distance afar too. Id like to fantasize that the little dark figure on the path is Heathcliff looking for his Catherine!! ha ha Wonderful image through and through!

A great looking sky and view of this lovely scene, Rachel. Nice depth and lighting in the photo. A slight levels adjustment would give you a more dramatic look in the lighting as suggested by Con.
