It's not often I get up to the Northwest Territories, but I did happen to be in Yellowknife on Wednesday. Couldn't resist this shot of house boats on Great Slave Lake . The lake is the fifth-largest lake in North America and 10th in the world. Good place for fishing I hear.

This is unusual and beautiful. I like the bright colors on the houseboats...in contrast to the cold, cold lake. What hardy people! Do you suppose they live here year-round, or just in fishing season?

Year round - in the boiling heat of summer and the frigid never-ending dark of the winter. 'Hardy' is certainly one word that you could apply.

This is a really well composed shot. Great colors and detail. But I think I will stay in the south. It is much warmer than that.

Surreal! Beautiful but mind blowing contrasts. I have one pair of wool socks and long sleeves... I guess a white painted house there just wouldn't do. You have a great eye for original subjects. Thank you for sharing them.

It looks like real houses on the lake! You said you took this on Wednesday, there is still ice, and snow, the only warmth I get is from the brightly colored houseboats. Thanks for sharing this, I really like it. Great work.
