No time for the tripod on this one. It's a little out of focus, a little blurry but I liked that it was an unusual moment, the first wing beat of flight.

You are right... this is a special moment. The only other way is to camp in a blind for 3-4 hours with tripod set up and fingers crossed. :)

I think it had been watching the ducks below me and was miffed that I'd blundered in its way. It certainly did a lot of squawking as it passed by.
