A VIEW FROM THE OTHER SIDE

…Another night in Artopolis…so what?

I had not a thing in particular planned for the evening, and I needed a break from the norm, which was spending mucho time on the Creatidyne mainframe, staying on schedule with the workload…There wasn’t much on the holovision tonight but crap, (When is it ever any different?) and I didn’t really like what was playing at the movie theatres…Jaws 35, man…When were they going to stop beating that dead horse?

So I dragged myself out for a change…There was this new teaser club down in the Red Light section that a friend told me about…I hadn’t been in these sort of places in quite some time, so I decided to see what this dive was all about…Probably the same old crapola, but hey, at least there’s booze, and I was taking the subway there and back anyway…right? So I went in, paid the cover, and managed to find a seat relatively close to the stage…It was early still, and the girls hadn’t come out yet, so I ordered a double, and looked around the joint…Typical tease…Nothing fancy at all…Same old stale smoke…Same old boozy smell…Same old jerks, escaping their lives via distilled gold and good old-fashioned eye candy--with a modest fee for developing a “sweet tooth”… Then the lights went down, and the hooting and whistling of the wolves started to resonate…The show was about to start…Yeah, yeah…I lit a cigarette, sipped my drink, and settled down…

The first of the girls came out doing her routine…Nice looking she was, even in the slinky black wiccan outfit she had on…I’d seen better, but there was something about the way this one danced…Yeah right…This is a tease, and it’s just male hormones working overtime, but she had a certain creativity she was putting into her craft…A certain way about the performance on the stage, like she was a natural at whatever she did…

And then she looked…directly into my eyesÂ…only for a moment…but she let me see inside herÂ…Transfixed, I saw the logic of Einstein…the method of Gallileo…the symbolism of Shakespeare, the melding of great mathematical, musical, artistic and literary minds…And then I saw greater darkness…of Poe…of Stoker…of Shelly…ditto Craven…King…HawthorneÂ…Hildebrandt…Boris…Charles Addams…Mobeus…All there…And a cold fear went through my soul like a sacrificial blade…Thankfully, the drunk next to me slapped me on the shoulder and broke the visual/mental connection…

“She's great…ain't she? the drunk stammered

“Yeah,” I said, getting up, handing him the rest of my drink…”Knock yourself out!”

It was time to get out of there…fast! I looked back up at the stage and saw the wiccan beauty had returned to her routine, but I wasn’t going to even take the risk of looking into those hypnotic eyes again!

…I think I made it to the front door in record time…Crazy wiccan dancers are just too much brain overload for this nutcase artist anyway…

Man, you were the only one who realized that it was Rhonda in disguise. The others were anyway far too tipsy to see her eyes. Good thing you got out in time, Ron and also that you didn't look into her eyes for too long - bewitched, bothered and bewildered you got out in time!
P.S. Good manip.

I thought I had woke up in the middle of a Raymond Chandler novel Yogi. Then I realized it was your artistic skills branching out. Outstanding narrative and matched only by the creative and very limber Rhonda.
Good post.

I love the curvy lines of her figure and how perfectly you captured this action pose. Her thumbs bother me though, they seem unnaturally short. LOL And your story is as awesome as your artwork! Great job :).
