This picture was taken at the same location as Glen but at a different time of day and at a slightly different angle...If one has the opportunity to visit the mountains of Scotland then this picture will give you some idea of the type of scenery you will see....Please enjoy.

Hi Mick,
The view reminds of a 18th century landscape oil painting, What a majestic vista, so colorful and rugged. If I visit can you promise no rain?...grin!

A NOTE TO ALL MY FRIENDS: I WILL BE COMMENTING LESS ON PEOPLE IN MY “FRIENDS” LIST SO AS TO MAKE TIME FOR VIEWING ALL “NEW IMAGES” AND ENCOURAGING OTHER PEOPLE OF WHOM I MAY NOT KNOW OR ARE NEW TO THE SITE. I WILL STILL VIEW EVERY IMAGE OF MY FRIENDS AND STILL COMMENT ON SOME IF I CAN GIVE A GOOD CRITIQUE OR MENTION WHAT I LIKE OR FEEL IS REALLY WORKIN’ WELL IN THE IMAGE. AS FAR AS MY IMAGES IF YOU HAVE A COMMENT ON HOW I CAN IMPROVE AN IMAGE I REALLY WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THAT SO AS TO LEARN AND BETTER MYSELF.

Very nice image Nick! I especially like the quality of the light and retaining the details in the clouds. The darkening of the border keeps the focus in the center and going down the valley. I'm finding on my own work that I'm not as inclined to crank up the saturation and sharpening as much as I once did. (If I cause people to wonder if the colors are real then maybe I've gone too far.) The lighting on this one is what really makes it work for me. Great work!

I too like the pureness of this photo Mick. I will enjoy for a long time because I faved it. I would like to see scenes such as this after a good day of golfing in your fine country. Lighting is perfect. You have a knack for picking the right light to shoot your masterpieces. Very good.

I worry about over-using superlatives on your shots but what else is there to do with something like this?!! Ansel Adams is supposed to have said that the secret to making a good photograph is finding the right place to stand. That sums this up for me. The viewpoint you've chosen isn't an obvious one - you've gone diagonally across the valley where a lot of people would have photographed straight down it. It gives this the most wonderful composition, with a curving line that seems to start in the foreground, picked out in golden light, and continue in the road leading out along the valley. You've also got the curve of the hill on the left sweeping gently into the shot and accentuating the shape of the valley. The clouds are wonderful and the way the far mountains are lost in mist suggests they go on forever. You can really imagine the ice sheet that covered this place and gouged out the valley can't you. A work of art Mick, I could go on and on - it's such a truly satisfying image. Hats off to you my friend.

Mick, while your skies are as breathtaking as ever, what really stands out, to me, is the wonderful contrasts of color in the center of the picture. This is a truly exceptional post!!
