The restored historic USS KIDD ( Fletcher class destroyer ) is proudly displayed on The Mississippi in Baton Rouge,LA. The destroyer can also be seen from the Mississippi River Bridge in the background . Serving from 1943-1964 The USS KIDD collected 12 Battle Stars, 8 from WWII and 4 from the Korean War . The USS KIDD was the first U.S. Navy ship to be named for Rear Admiral Issac C. Kidd . Admiral Kidd was the first U.S. Navy flag officer to die during WWII . He died on the bridge of his flagship USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Hello....This is a nice closeup showing good detail on the superstructure of this fine destroyer....I served in the Royal Navy for 36 years,I retired in 1999...Most of my time was spent on aircraft carriers.....Well done...All the best to you.................Mick.

December 7, 1941. I've heard a lot about that day. My father-in-law was there. Though it seems he didn't talk about it too much. It had to have left an indelible mark in his memory though. This is certainly a piece of our history. A nice angle is made by the boat and the bridge in the distance.

That is quite a shot my Friend.....amazing I might say. What history there must be. What an essence this must have for many like 'LANJOCKEY.' Even though I have no experience with this, I can see/feel an intensity about it....awesome photo....
