These are natural circles, not computer graphics. The bright disk is the sun. The dark disk is the moon. I clicked an eclipse of the sun on May 20, 2012 as the sun was going down over the Estrella mountains near Phoenix, AZ. The eclipse photo is framed by blending it with a picture of a rotating ellipse. It is a time exposure of a penlight swinging as a pendulum on a string hanging from the ceiling of a dark room (with camera on the floor facing up). PS: I want to caution anyone photographing a solar eclipse to use proper eye protection.

Wow! You put a lot of work into this fine piece. It all works so well together. What a great idea to do a time exposure with the penlight setup. Kudos!!!

Congratulations on your 5th place win in the Circles contest. Once again, I love the creativity of using a pendulum time-exposure. Great idea!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

That's an outstanding image. Good idea for the eye protectors though.
