Perched on a fence contemplating whether it wants to swim or not. Usually known as ducks, they really are not ducks and are probably more closely related to geese. They do not quack, they hiss. Second only to Mallards in numbers we have a lot of them in New Zealand.

Lyn, after reading your narrative, I wonder if the Muscovy is either a hybrid duck or hybrid goose? .
In my country we have them too, but not the amount as in New Zealand.
Very fine capture of this contemplating one (a penny for its thoughts, 😁).
