The beetle wasn't doing much for a period of time, so I could get this shot off in the low light. It was quite a murky and drizzly day, deep in the Welsh countryside, where I spent the weekend.

This has to be one of the better insect shots I have seen for a long while. I think the DoF works well, and the crop on the insect gives it a feeling of being busy going about its business, even if it isn't moving.

I think this is a fantastic shot! I love the definition of the texture of the branch he is on and I love the close up detail you captured of this little guy!
