Douro river, and a bit of Porto's riverbank to the right, and Vila Nova de Gaia's riverbank to the left. Some may say both sides compete against each other... others may agree they compliment each other and work towards the river's beauty, united by bridges, sharing restaurants, nightlife, boat trips, port wine cellars, afternoon walks, long talks, evening meditation and blue hours.

The glowing sky is the scene stealer in this shot.

Marcia...I checked out your gallery. You have some outstanding work in your portfolio. One thing I've noticed is that flower pictures usually get a lower than expected C-Index.

Now to "Douro In Blue". This is a beautiful, well-balanced composition with lovely colors, a very interesting subject and good use of light and dark contrast. The colors in the sky are glorious and subtle and are picked up in the reflection in the river. I love the silhouettes of the boats in the lower left and of the town in the background.

If I saw this in the VB, I'd give it a 6-1/2 out of 10, which is pretty good for me. If the sky was more dramatic, it would have rated maybe an 8.

I like how you shot this down thru the curves of the River. I love the pastel sky you captured, and to the right, the glow of the lamplight and the sparkle of lights here and there is very lovely.Nicely done. Verena
