You can tell it's a juvenile because it's brown rather than black. The adults are black. Something pretty simple, I was as taken by the movement of colour from the blue in the foreground to the ochre tones in the background, the swan is just kind of an elegant excuse to appreciate the setting. :)

Enjoy.

Mikel.

Mikel....I've never seen a black swan in person. Most of the U.S. believes in segregation and purity of the Aryan race of swans. I'm struck by the bill. Did you crank the saturation or is this for real? Knowing your work, my best guess is that his bill really does glow in the dark. Lovely reflection (doesn't it ever get windy there?)and some beautiful colors in the reflection. He doesn't exactly have much camouflage with that red bill. I'm surprised these guys weren't hunted into extinction.

The colors are striking for their richness and complimentarity. Nicely composed image and you even got the whole swan and it's reflection in the frame; something I often find difficult to do in my excitement to catch a waterbird before it glides away. A fine shot, Mikel.

Please don't fool me, Mikel! LOL!!!

An elegant excuse is not needed, simply because I love this post, my friend.

Regards, Cornelius.

You are definitely getting the once-over by your subject. The multi shaded ripples provide a lovely background.
