This is my first tentative outdoor shot with the new Canon Powershot S3 that Santa brought me for Christmas. The camera has more controls than the cockpit of a stealth bomber, so it'll be a sharp curve learning how to use them. This image is of the tiny Lockwood Beck reservoir near Castleton on the North Yorkshire Moors.

Spectacular view and wonderful colors! You won't take long to learn the camera from the looks of it!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

This is a great start. Not much to nit on this at all. The only one is a slight human error in that it is is slightly tilted but the camera seems to be humming. Very nice.

The horizon looks endless in this Anne-Marie. Overall this is an excellent post as far as the color and DOF. Simply beautiful landscape here and the blues of the water seem to match the sky. Very well done.

Excellent bright color in this image and acceptable sharpness. Nothing wrong with the new camera that I can see. Keep on having fun with it!

Nice photo to look at during my lunchtime, beats staring at these four grey walls! Like the colours especially in the foreground. Think you have a good camera there, looking to upgrade this year too. Mmmm.

From what I can see Santa has brought you a very good Christmas present. The scenery is of course great and the focus is quite sharp even on the hill at the back. Hope you will master all the controls soon and bring us some more beautiful photos. - Raj

Love this one too. I'd say Santa knew what you needed for Christmas. This fits you like glove (which I normally receive)
Pardon me while I sit down and enjoy the view. Very nice.

Hello Anne-Marie...Very quiet and subtle scene. I like the way how you managed the light to just show enough details of the foreground...Well done Anne....All the best....Mick.
