NOTICE: THIS IMAGE IS COPYRIGHTED AND NOT TO BE POSTED ON ANY OTHER WEBSITE. Here he is again still assaulting my blooms. I tried to research what kind of bee this is but could not nail it down from the images on the internet. I would call him a Yellow Jacket but no pictures of Yellow Jackets look like this on the internet. I do love the yellow "vest" he is wearing with the black spot on his back. If anyone can identify this bee, please state so in your comments.

One of the best insect shots I've seen here Pat, he's sharp, the flower is sharp, the background is soft and the side angle gives us so much of his shape and form. Damn Owd Sod has got me thinking about crumpets and honey but it's 1am and there ain't no crumpets in the house. grrrrr.

Yep, the good old Bummble Bee. From what I understand, Bumble Bees do not sting, they bite (probably next to never though). On the other hand, Yellow Jackets are nasty little buggers. They definitely do sting and are quick to let you have it if they're so inclined. Of all the times I've ever been stung in my life it's been by a Yellow Jacket.

Well, long story short...you've got yourself some great shots of these cool little creatures. Glad its not a Yellow Jacket ;)

I really think is an offshoot of the Bombus Pennsylavanicus. It is the Amishisacus Horsealicious Noelectrisicus Bumblebee.
Excellent work Owd Momma.

Better go have a stinger after all that research.

I thought he was Kamekazicus Bumblicious Bombardius, a little known offshoot of the Canis Lupis Bumbly Bee... very rare... but harmless... so far... Beautiful bee capture, btw!
