Sometimes when I view scenes like this I think of the vast African Serengeti where one can see for miles and miles. I have been visiting this wildlife sanctuary for several years before I found out you can drive all the way around it (duh). Yes, there is a gravel one way road that runs across back there along the horizon so that will give me some more shooting spots. This is the type of land that needs to be protected from oil and erosion. It slows down hurricanes when they come in.

great shot. all you need are a few zebras, lions, antelope, giraffes, and hyenas. they would love this vast space complete with water.

Louisiana Serengeti - imagine those big wild buffaloes running there and crocodiles (not alligators) snapping at photographers :) The cloudy sky gives the image a moody look. Nice capture!

Wild mutant alligators roaming the Serengeti Owd Momma. I can see them now. I believe they have the oil spill capped so that should help the mood down south. Let's hope so. You are right about the need for places like this.

Pat, the depth and moody sky really make this one.
We really need to protect our marsh lands and the purpose they give us. =^..^=sandi

Beautiful scene and great shot, Pat. Lighting is perfect. Bright clouds' reflection on the small plants in the water is very nice.
