One of the most stricking buildings in Amsterdam is the place where most tourists arrive: Central station. If you happen to have a widescreen monitor, like I do, you may appreciate this photo even better. Sometimes I wish we could have a widescreen gallery here at Caedes, because it is often a shame to crop away so much of the photo's. Anyway, enjoy!

We Americans have a lot to learn from Europeans about building things that are beautiful and meant to last through the ages. It's all about efficiency over here... no beauty, no timelessness... and then there's this. And this is only a train station!

Thanks for sharing Paul. =)

I can clearly see ladies in long victorian dresses and men in tall hats and gloves with horse and carriage taxis waiting carry them to grand hotels. Could pass for a royal palace.

That is indeed a big beautiful example of what you call architecture. I found myself looking it over for quite awhile. Somebody tell them their two clocks are not singing out of the same hymn book! That is a great job of focusing and clarity and sharpness. Tks for sharing.

This is magnificent architecture Paul. The colors themselves are amazing. The background that Mother Nature gave you is quite stunning also. The sky and the clouds add a lot of depth to this photo. I only wish we had buildings this beautiful here. I admire the fact that some countries believe their old buildings are still beautiful and take the time to clean them and restore them. We don't, we tear them down and build skyscrapers..ugh!
Anyway, this has great color, high quality, perfect composition and awesome clarity. How old is this station Paul?
Right into my favorites folder on my hard drive. Thank you for sharing your history with us :~)
