Jeff....Those are some unusual looking flowers. I like the blurred contrasting green background.

Jeff, it's the 'flat sea holly' indeed. The official name of this thistle is Eryngium planum.
Like the by you previous depicted St. John's Wort the plant is used for medical purposes as well.
