Heron waiting patiently. There are lots of catfish in the pond but they are too big for the heron.

Raj - It must be difficult for the heron to be the big bird on the pond with bigger fish! Terrific capture.

I have never in my life taken a wildlife shot this good. Maybe I should leave my dogs behind. Too bad the brush got between the lens and the heron. That's why I always carry pruning shears with me. Sometimes I also carry RoundUp and a chain saw.
We have herons galore at Atascadero Lake. Not the brightest animals in the world as the city has decided not to restock the lake with fish since it dries up every year now. Maybe they eat frogs because I know there are tons of those.
