It was in this grade 1 listed XVIth century cottage, described by Thomas Ellwood as "that pretty box in St. Giles, Chalfont", that Milton completed Paradise Lost, and the idea of Paradise Regained was put to him.
What a quaint building you've found here, Ray. I love the way the mound of flowers to the right sets off this building and adds to the old-fashioned look.
this just had to be in the UK! they just don't do cottages anywhere else in the World like they do here! :) ... so I checked your profile and of course it was. beautiful capture of a beautiful old cottage with a history. Patti ps putting this one in my favourites.
