I was at the Morton Arboretum and I had to take a picture of this leaf--its webbed holes are just too neat. I tried taking some closer versions as well, but the focus was blurry.
This is an interesting shot, Amanda. Well composed and balanced. It has more detail and colour range than is showing, and will provide a substantial increase in impact with very minor edits.
I think it's your attempt to keep the slight grey tone/clouds that has caused the overall image to appear rather dull.
Adding a bit of Contrast and + Gamma/Brightness allows the sky "back-lighting" to make the leaves somewhat transparent and showing far more detail and some subtle colour improvements.
It also makes the spider more prominent.
A very good shot.
Very nice simplistic shot and love the pattens in the leafs they look like fractals but i believe that is what called true nurtures fractals. Great photo well done.
