Thank you all. She's a six month old Border Collie, but don't be fooled by the "butter wouldn't melt in her mouth" expression. She and her sister Scylla are little monsters (but we love them anyway...).
I love the gray background, it keeps from detracting from the dog. Great shot as well, the composition, as well as capturing the right moment. I know with pets this can be difficult at times.
Thank you all very much for your kind comments. I'm sure she thinks she's a star, Aristides, but if you could see her now, covered in mud, you wouldn't think so ;-)
Thank you Rose, Rob and Teresa :-) Sasha and Scylla are curled up quietly on their beds at the moment, wet, sandy and worn out after a good run on the beach. But give them ten minutes and they'll be asking to play again.....
when i had seen the thumbnail, my first thought was.. this dog should go modelling somewhere :) it sure looks like she's posing! and then i have read the whole story, heheh :)
she is an absolutely beautiful dog.. i bet her sister is, too (maybe a shot of her one day..? :) i simply love dogs.. and when my dog was a little puppy, he was a little monster, too :)))) they are so playful and hyperactive in that period :))
and for the image.. i like it a lot, it looks like a professional portrait and sasha is certainly photogenic :) the whole image uses achromatic colours.. the contrast between black and white fits perfectly with the beautiful grey shades of the background..
you couldn't do anything better, this is perfect! straight into my favourites.. one can notice, most of my favourites are animals.. who could not resist those beautiful creatures? :)
thank you for this wonderful image... and happy easter :)
First of all, the dog is beautiful. Im glad that you did not include the fly in this picture because the sense I got from this picture, that I normally do not with other pet images, is that this dog is very well-behaved. I know that we all love dogs when theyre playful and silly, but I think this picture is unique because it doesnt have that quality. I love the absense of color, especially because the dog is extreme black and white and the wall behind is middle gray, which pushes the dog image forward. Good work.
Very cool K-9 portrait. Just spotted it on the front page. Wonderful capture. The fly must have be lathered in peanut butter cuz this dog is transfixed.
