I've watched this old place for years and thought I'd better get a shot of it before it went down completely. Wasn't brave enough to open the gate and go in cause I didn't have my phone and if something happened they wouldn't find me for years if ever. I'm so chicken!!

Looks like it could crumble any minute, Carol. I'm sure glad you didn't go inside. Such fine detail in this entire scene. You have been trying new things and the results are very impressive.

Such a shame how people can let things go to shambles. But it gave you a great capture Carol! Very natural and a great comp!!! So glad you didn't go in there :-)

Lot's to look at here between the house and trees and fence and plants. The picture really leaps off the page...Tom

Everything about this shot is perfect! The composition is very sharp in detail, and the barren trees and gate provide a eerie atmosphere that enhances the image of the antique of a home. -Don't feel chicken about not approaching it; I know I wouldn't!

The capture is very nice, you were very close, or close enough. I understand you, I am not brave either. Pity for the house, the place is very beautiful.

This good, and indeed dangerous to enter without anyone nearby.
We have seen this kind of abandoned houses during our vacation in the U.S. this summer, surprising that so many of these ruins just stand and slowly expire.
We are also a number of photographs.

What a shame i bet it was beautiful looking in it younger days, but it still as a hidden beauty with the lovely textures in the wood and the light running across it's beams. The angle you took the shot from is great with the tall grasses on the left.

You really are a chicken, Carol. This is the sort of place that Dorothy visited all the time. You should always carry your telephone. Hopefully you can it back to this place before it collapses and see what's inside. Love that sign. I didn't know that trapping even took place anymore. Maybe it did when they put up that sign. A great shot of this old building. I don't know...a new roof and it looks ready to mover in.

I would have at least checked to see if the spare key was under the flower pot on the stoop. Is this your retirement villa? A nicely composed scene, Carol. Nice colour and details in the photo.

Carol - I like the image of this dilapidated old house being overtaken by nature. Thad

I can see why you were drawn to the place. Color tones and details are excellent. Especially enjoy the surroundings. Saved to enjoy more.

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

Truly an excellent image this is. I have seen many such sad scenes. If only we could do a rewind to see the joy that once filled that home.
