Newly restored after flooding in Hurricane Katrina, the Roosevelt Hotel continues its Christmas tradtion of lighting its block-long lobby. The Hotel re-opened three months ago with its original name "The Roosevelt" after a few decades of being called "The Fairmont". It was Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long's favorite hotel in the 1920's and 1930's.

Wow! Took my breath away! And gave me some ideas. Nicely captured, I like the slight haze and the fact that there are people there: they add life and movement to the image.

If it was good enough for Huey, it would suit me just fine Colleen. Glad to see they restored Historic Hotel. The lighting on the bare branches looks wonderful. It really jumps out. Good post.

When the Roosevelt Hotel was first the Roosevelt Hotel (before it became the Fairmont and then the Roosevelt again), my aunt Dot worked at the Delta Airline counter at one end of the long lobby pictured here. When I would visit her at Christmas, the lobby was decorated not with lights as here but with white snowy wool of some sort that covered the entire archway from floor to ceiling all the way down the long lobby. It was stunning.
