Adrienne, a couple of thoughts I got when looking at "Leaving."
I really like the diagonal line you have here but, in my humble opinion, I think it may be just a tad too high in the picture. A little lower with a slight cropping on the left side and bottom would move the subject down and more to the left as well.
I am also curious if you had the opportunity to take a series of shots with this bird. If you were able to capture him/her either turning and profiling or swimming in an opposite diagonal of your main one. This would create a picture making use of the natural movement of the scene, and, for us, a connection to your subject by being able to see the face.
Adrienne, I looked at your gallery and you are very talented. You have a keen understanding of composition and I welcome you to Caedes and wish you all the best. I am looking forward to seeing more of your work, as time moves on. ~~ John
If that bird had turned around to face the camera, this image would be better. I do like the details of the water and the trees along the shoreline, though.
Nicely composed, but when shooting wildlife you always want
to get them coming and not going. I do like the textures, colors and lines in your composition.
