Richie, your title/'narrative' is cryptic to me as I know only a Mare's Tail as the Hippuris vulgaris plant. I hope however that the by you depicted wonderful landscape isn't 'polluted' by this plant because it's an invasive, deep-rooted perennial weed that will spread quickly to form a dense carpet of foliage, crowding out less vigorous plants in beds and borders.
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!
