This fiddle was actually made for my great grandfather. It was then handed down from oldest son to oldest son till it came to me. The one thing I have learned as I have gotten older is the value of family and family airlooms. I actually remember Paw Paw playing this on his back porch and I will cherish it till the day I pass it to my son.

Oh this is very interesting story of your family. Something we're going to receive as a donation but which smell of past where things were more simple and people less complicated.
I love your narrative.
Good work.

This is a great post along with a great story. I especially like the way the lighting is on this. Definitely good work. I have a similar story but with a wooden set of rosary beads from my grandfather to my father to me. It is amazing because as they've used them to pray the wood over the years has actually changed shape...I can touch something their fingers touched. It's amazing really.Great post!!

I was drawn in by your post and touched by your narrative. The composition is terrific, the framing is nice and the light play is superb.

Someone once told me that one mark of true art is whether or not it touches somebody. The picture does and by the way others have shared their stories /\ the narrative certainly did to.

Kudos to you, sir.

I believe GBR put it just right BTK. I love the family traditions as well. This fiddle still looks wonderful. I always think of this legendary star and this song when I think of the fiddle.. Just a great post and the photo is excellent as is the story.

Hello Billy....This is a very good still life photo...The angle that you set the fiddle to catch the light is very good....Love the the story....Well done Billy....All the best to you....Mick.
