This baby was born Mai 25th, 2003 in Viennas Zoo Schönbrunn. Since his father Pambo (also red) is the only bull in the drove all of the kids turn out with red hair. Hope you'll like our little Mongu :o)

He's wonderful Chris. A lovely sight that's beautifully captured with perfect clarity and composition. Excellent post. I go to the zoo here to catch the baby elephant now and then, he was born just a few months ago. Thanks for reminding me it's time for a photo op with him :)

awwww - how cute! elephants are one of my favourite animals! I have been watching a series on BBC tv where this man has spent 15 years following around a group of elephants - incredible creatures they are - in one episode a group of elephants kidnapped a baby and the females in the group stood shoulder to shoulder and walked right into the other group and pulled the baby back - amazing! I am digressing I know1 lol! well lovely photograph anyway! Patti

The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.
so sweet, the baby elephant is;-) all the technical aspects of the shot on the hightest possible level as well;-) I just hope I'll be able to visit Vienna again some day (I was there once) to see Mongu and his fellow animals with my own eyes;-)
