Till the end of the 1940's corn was ground in such mills in the area of the Gesaeuse, Styria.
These three were saved from decay and from time to time the are being started for visitors.

oh nice, im glad they saved them, they are all quite close together, i wonder if that is noisy?! and that one wheel thing (a jan description) is just resting on that rock. interesting!
In my country the old windmills are not only grinding for visitors/tourists but to keep the windmills in a good condition as well (standing still means going backwards). Possibly in Syria they will do the same.

i see the right waterwheel is not touching the water. can it be that those waterwheels could be lowered, or was it just a case to wait for a higher level of flood ?
