My son bought a mixture of sunflower seeds from his friend Jack, and he planted them in his garden. As this one grew, and grew, and grew, we were beginning to think we had a beanstock seed instead of a sunflower. This flower is at least 18 feet tall. One morning when I went out to look at it I could see why it had grown so tall. It was reaching for the moon! Perhaps flowers make wishes upon the moon like we do upon the stars. Perhaps he was wishing for company, it must be lonely up there all by himself.

I think you have discovered the elusive Moonflower. They pose as Sunflowers but us in the know, recognize them. They are very tall and thin. Great post Slugger.

I like Tick's idea of the Moonflower. This could well be one. If you look closely I think its eyes are closed and it's fast asleep, waiting for the night to come! Cool shot Carol.

I love the symbolism in this shot: The Sun flower reaching for the Moon. Let that be a lesson to us all! Nice eye for an interesting composition, but of course that doesn't surprise me!

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
