This picture shows the statue of the late Dutch Queen Mother Emma (only available in the Dutch langue) in Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

Queen Emma served as regent for her daughter Queen Wilhelmina and was an immensely popular member of the Dutch Royal Family. She was called 'queen of charity' too because she especially engaged in improvement of the conditions for those suffering from tuberculosis.

Her statue is very gracious sitting there, and you have presented it beautifully. I enjoyed reading about her, she was very popular. Amazed that her husband King William was 41 years her senior. She had a lot of responsibility.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

It's a lovely statue and I enjoyed the read as well - I had a maternal great uncle from Luxembourg so I found all the marrying back and forth most interesting.
