I like to continue my 'Mini Maritime Festival' series with THIS ONE.

Depicted is the, in 1992 built, replica of the Spanish carrack (In Spanish: nao) 'Victoria'. The original 'Victoria', built about 1518, became famous as she was the first ship to successfully circumnavigate the world. One has to realize that this ship had only a length of 28 meters (92 feet) and a tonnage of only 85 tons!

That doesn't seem like a big enough ship to circumnavigate the word! I like the straight-on shot Mr. C.!

It is amazing to me that this ship made it around the world but thats what they had back then and they were brave. Great image Cornelius.

A magnificent vessel ! As much as I love the sea I would not have liked to be sailing on the original Victoria. I would not be brave enough

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
