Your perseverance paid off well! Amazing shot. Isn't it great how standing in this awesome beauty can wipe away the misery of 2 days of backpacking in the rain?? :)

Can you hear it whisper, can you hear it murmur? Are you ready to explore nature? Come on! It is thriving with colors and painted with light...

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.

What an awesome photograph. I found it when I was at CompUSA trying to find a cool background to show off the quality of the new glossy Mac screens. I stumbled on this one and the wide view and range in colors was just perfect. I hope it is still being proudly displayed there!

I just have to say that that is one of the most unique mountains I've seen...ever. And what a great shot of it! Sounds like you had a pretty lucky break in the weather to get such nice lighting. Thanks for posting and I'm sure you'll be on my desktop for quite a while. :)

Intimidating from any angle.
This looks like a newer mountain range: very sharp peaks. The Appalacians around my area are older, and worn down
