As we start to wind down our tour you see another exterior shot of the tower. The Brass Mount is to be found at the northeast corner of the Tower of London (to the left of the photo). The Brass Tower got its name from the huge brass cannons that were located on the northeast corner of the Tower during the seventeenth century. The towers in this shot (right to left) are the Boyer Tower, Brick Tower and Martin Tower. All three towers were part of the defenses of the Tower of London and was built by Henry III and modified by Edward I (his son). The Boyer Tower had a draw bridge which was added by Edward I. Sir Walter Raleigh was imprisoned in the Brick Tower when he secretly married Elizabeth Throckmorton therefore insulting Queen Elizabeth I. The original Brick Tower was destroyed by fire, which started in the Boyer Tower. Martin Tower held prisoners until around 1669; at that time the Crown Jewels were stored there, (1669 to 1841). Today there are torture devises on display. The building behind the towers is the Waterloo Barracks / Jewel House and the steeples of the White Tower. Hope you all enjoy this shot and thanks for your comments and thoughts.....
