The Mayflower II was launched September 22, 1957, in Devon, England, as a symbol of friendship between the United Kingdom and the USA for collaboration in World War II. Following the design specifications developed from extensive research, shipbuilder built the vessel to a length of 106 feet with a beam of only 25 ft.
The original Mayflower transported the English Separatists, known as the Pilgrims, from Plymouth, England, to Plymouth, Massachusetts. The vessel left England on September 16, and dropped anchor inside the hook tip of Cape Cod, November 11, 1620.
The Mayflower was probably dismantled for scrap lumber in 1623, following the death of her captain.
