Another image from the ruin series. The strongholds are perfectly blended in the landscape. One cannot tell whether they were made by man or by nature.
its a very strong composition Ewa, causing some great sweeping movements of the eye, it really does give the feel of fortitude and even oppression!
its the king of the hill (an english saying) and despite being in some state of disrepair its going to stay that way, the timeless craggy foundations are well depicted on the bottom right
I just got this image during my voting both..and I would say, the perspective is very well done, I like the contrast of the blue sky with the arquitecture and texture of the castle, well balance and the way u got the framing.
There is such amazing beauty in these gorgeous old places. I think we just have no idea how fortunate you are to be able to find these and to enjoy them and take photos for us to see. I love the dramatic feeling here...the architecture is so great! But I have to ask ..what are "strongholds"?
Great, great composition. Good clarity, nice detail.
Capturing both of the representations of the stone really makes this image. Natural and man made, nice 'contrast.' You really made quite a bit out of what little was apparently there in the scene.
The sky is also another great contrast, for colour. Not sure of the proportions, though. I can understand the allure of wanting to capture that beautiful blue. But ... but, I like the reds that are showing in the plant life around the rock for some additional contrast, and then cropping some of the blue would not be a 'crime.' It might provide some nice additional detail to balance out that of the stonewalls. Just ... a suggestion.
Kidding, a little, as that sky is gorgeous. However, I actually think it competes too much in this image. Isn't that a little strange?
"Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."- "I wish the Ring had never come to me.
I wish none of this had happened..." "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."-Gandalf
A lovely castle view. It stands proudly on the hill no longer having to watch for the enemy climbing towards it. I like the angle of this shot. Good textures with the large boulder in the foreground - and the ancient stonework of the castle. Wonderful clarity and composition and a gorgeous sky. Great photography Ewa! Thanks :*>
