Not the usual sparkling blue lake that you see in the tourist brochures - when we arrived in the spring of 2007, the lake was frozen solid, but it was still an amazing sight from our hotel window.
There is something so very special with snow on the mountains. And your photo is magnificent. I love seeing those huge rock walls and the soft white clouds too. The angles here are great. I'm enjoying seeing this right now, since we had 95 degrees today!! Nicely done, wonderful place to be I'm sure. Verena
"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called. ~A.A. Milne
Okay, forget about the lousy 74 c-index rating. The other commenting members here and I are giving you an honorary 90. Your photo deserves it. It's not your standard, run-of-the-mill perfect postcard photo of a mountain lake. That's its power. It pulls no punches. As good photography should, it tells the truth about the desolation in a Canadian Rockie winter (despite the hotel's proximity). All the diagonals of snow, trees, and stone contrast with the flat clouds, painting a dizzying picture of altitude and overpowering strength. Very nice.
Trying to work out how I missed this one earlier. A stunning raw breathtaking image. Love this perspective, showing the massive scale. Excellent work. Thank you for sharing it.
