I have such respect for professional landscapers, particularly those who design large gardens. I suppose the curve of the path was meant to contrast (in texture) and reinforce (in line) the tree above...but such things come with great experience...and in a field where reinforcement of something tried is hardly quick. As usual...lovely exposure, good color, not "overcooked", and excellent attention to detail.
