Crested Butte is a small town located almost dead center in Colorado. There are two things that make this charming ski resort unique. First is the Officiai Dedication that Crested Butte is the wildflower capitol of the state. Each year thousands of "tourists" head there to look, photograph and take jeep tours into the high country for a closer look. Secondly, Crested Butte in known world wide for it's Mountain Bike trails and comparative events each year. If you are old enough to remember the great Schwin bicycle (Pewee Herman rode one in his movies). Crested Butte has the largest collection of these bicycles anywhere in the world. There are shops that do nothing but repair and recondition these beauties. Should do a series on them. Maybe.

Wow! This would be my preference for a backyard. Ditch the mower. Gorgeous place and pretty photo Bob. All my bikes, start to finish, were Schwinns. ;)

Talk about sensory overload! Colors, colors everywhere and not a frame of film to spare. If I came upon this sight I would just lock up not knowing where to start shooting. Bob Great shot Crested Butte is one of the most picturesque places in the world.

g'day bob/Annie,

you talking about my anti-bbq-ing and here you are showing off all kinds of flowers in one shot?

i thought you reserved the flowers for Annie?

i've been to the alamo and pee-wee's bike is not in the basement?

But, i would pay to ride those trails up there...nice capture of the flower beds, are you sure, you did this? LOL, have a good day and may the sun pour in on the upper country for your two...

When the white man discovered this country Indians were running it. No taxes no debt, women did all the work White man thought he could improve on a system like this.

Great shot, Bob! I've always wanted to get into the mountains up there for Spring wildflowers, but have not made it yet. I love the color patterns and saturation in this!

Glorious flowers and an very interesting description. The only comment I can offer you is that it might help to do a filter to lower the contrast of this photo. The direct sunlight makes it a bit hard.
High marks form me, I like your work a lot and I have this spot in Colorade in my fav's.

great, i'd just complain that you've oversharpened it. its nice in the sense that it gives you the impression of more detail, however it makes the contrasts too high, and harsh. lovely pic tho

What a image worth study! ... nicely captured and presented.

As to the Schwinn study ... I think this is an AWESOME idea! They were known for their sweeping designs and "architecture" as much as their weight (*wink*)

...bring it.

Makes you search throught it. I like the papery bark and shadows on the trees, and the pile of logs. If I were to try this, and I have, I would just end up with waist high grass and a couple of space starved flowers sticking through.

Well, it doesn't appear anyone else has caught it but I spotted it. This is a "composition" alright. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky but VERY WELL ACCOMPLISHED. Good choice of colors (ahem) good choice of plants (ahem) etc. Well done. Gorgeous as a matter of fact.
