This is a picture that was shot this past summer. It is from my backyard. I took this just after a summer rain..I have some rosebushes in backyard but this bush seems to produce the better blooms..so I guess I tend to photograph it more..

What a beauty... the rose is so elegant yet dainty at the same time. I love the color contrast, light pink against rich green colors. The raindrops are also a nice effect and add a mood of, perhaps purity?. Thanks for sharing. Ashley

A perfect rose shot! Which, in case you're wondering, consists of:
a perfect blossom to begin with (no brown spots, dirt, bugs, or blight)
lovely colors
a good stage of bloom. with interesting patterns
a good angle to capture the interesting patterns
a contrasting, non-distracting background
getting the rose very close up
raindrops to set it off
the right lighting
sharp focus.
Congratulations. You've done it all, and very well, too!

Gerry, that is a great picture. Although I like close-ups to be perfectly focused because I am a picky person.. this looks nice with the slight grain to it. I love the color difference between the blacks and the flower... the green adds a nice effect as well... but overall it is a truly, "alien" like picture.

I only have a few minutes to drop by here and commend you on your excellent capture of this stunning rose, as there are dishes multiplying themselves in the after-Thanksgiving debacle that is making its debut in my kitchen...the c-index, of course, says it all, but it is a stunner, and you've done such a marvelous job of capturing it, and it is a pure delight on a Thanksgiving Day to be given such a lovely rose...off to the calamity in the kitchen..thanks for the respite :)PJ

Hi Gerry, this rose is dynamite in it's beauty, one of the very best of all those I have seen! Being my most favorite of colors which of course is pink, causes this flower to stand out among many! You can't immitate a misty refreshing summer rain with a water bottle, (as I often try to do), smiling, so this further enhances it's loveliness! It is so healthy in appearance, oh so beautiful it is! The gorgeous backdrop of elegant black, mixed with the brown and green tones embellishes it even further!
