Spotted this Banksy only recently, & photographed it on the 13th of July, perhaps this Urban graffiti was inspired by the St Pauls riots @ Bristol.

I was living in Streatham S.London when the Brixton riots erupted a little time later, & clearly recall sneaking through a Police cordon with my Canon AE-1 the following morning. Practically all the high street shop windows were smashed in, & many goods were looted. Also there was a smouldering gap between a row of terraced houses down a back street where a unattended fire had totally gutted a building. Another vivid memory was the sight of blood, & clumps of black curly hair in front of a smashed shop window.

Further riots followed in Hansworth @ Birmingham, Toxteth @ Liverpool, & Tottenham @ N.London where isolated PC Keith Blakelock was hacked to death!

Americans will probably remember this decade as Thatchers golden years. :o) I find the white teddy bear throwing the petrol bomb quite intriguing. ;o)

That's funny. This is a very nice "off the beaten path" picture to post on here. I like it.

Its fun when you spot these. I found one in Venice, so he gets around.

Hasn't Banksy just been outed or publicly named? Great piece of graffiti. I remember the Toxteth riots very well. I went shopping in an Asian shop the day after it started with no problems but as the day wore on tensions mounted. I had to drive right through Liverpool 8 (interestingly enough, nobody called the area Toxteth only Liverpool 8. It was the media which brought the name to the fore) to pick Delia up from working a late shift at the University. I had a brick thrown at the car and it bounced on the roof. That's my whole experience with The Toxteth Riots.

Hey thanks Steve for your personal recollection of the Liverpool 8. I was working in Brixton b4, & after the Brixton riots.
Here's a song from Monty Python I'd like to dedicate to my American buddies, & the all the good folks who selflessly volunteer their spare time at Caedes keeping it such a nice place to visit. :o)

AE-1, eh? I guess I don't feel quite so bad about the old FTB.
Very fine job, Phil.

Ask your Congressmen and Senators why our existing wells aren't pumping more than 3 days a month? There a lot of unused capacity in existing wells.

Good presentation on the times Phlossie. You're probably right about the bleeping song. I enjoyed the tours through your riots. Maybe you should post a shot taken with the AE-1. Judging from the graffiti thinks have calmed.
