Some of you Americans may recognize this bird it's a Caracara bird. They are large birds with long powerful legs,& a razor sharp bill designed for ripping up raw flesh ! Their very inquisitive intelligent birds who enjoy a varied diet sometimes taking on snakes. On occasions they will group together to conquer larger prey.

It's great to see these truly wild birds at a bird sanctuary, but it still upsets me to see so many fine creatures made captive.

That's a gorgeous looking bird. He doesn't look happy to be caged up. But then, I wouldn't be happy if it was me, either. LOL. Excellent close up, Phil.

Sorry to see it has to be caged. It has the beak of an eagle so it must be powerful. Beautiful shot of it.

He's beautiful, Phil. I guess this is what we have to expect in an ever shrinking world.

Such a good close up, I have never seen one of these that I can remember. Too bad he has to be in a cage.

It looks like Phoghorn Leghorn strayed from the roost and found himself an eagle Phlossie. What a cute breed they started. Looks vicious as well. Great post and information.

It looks like a Hawk in disguise with an eagle beak and toupe. I think he might be planning an escape. A great closeup Phil, I never seen one of these before. A shame it had to be in a cage. Nice work, Saved
