The Sinagua Indians built this cliff dwelling about 90 feet above the valley floor sometime between the 1100s and the 1400s, then just disappeared about 600 years ago. It was reached by a series of ladders. Camp Verde, Arizona, USA

This is so full of history, and really makes me wonder just what did happen to them. Just think how hard that had to have been for them to do back in those days. Very interesting, and well done! tigs=^..^=

Ted, your wonderful image shows clearly that the Sinagua Indians were far ahead of their time when it comes to the construction of impregnable/unbeatable fortifications.
Impressive capture of this historical site too!

I had to google this...what an interesting place and great photo!

Montezuma Castle was built sometime between AD 1100 and 1350, and believed by archaeologists to be built by the women.

With 65 rooms, the cliff dwelling, which rises to five stories, was built of small limestone blocks, and roofed with sycamore logs, poles, sticks, and grass intertwined with mud. The walls were about two feet thick at the bottom and a foot thick at the top.
