lol I really like the symmetry that one of my icons so readily gave away :). This is very creative and gets a 10 from me for being an instant classic. Nice work!
***EDIT***
I've decided this is going in my favorites and on my desktop now because I realized it features my first icon which I didn't have for long and is very rare. Thanks for the air time :)
This took about three or four hours. I click/dragged the icons from the web to Illustrator and placed them on a template I created of the Caedes spider. As Joby pointed out, I reflected the left side into the right side to save time and give the work some symmetry...I was bored.
I was thinking of posting a link to the list of all caedes.net user icons, but that probably would have taken down the server if everyone clicked on it. =)
Somewhat difficult to use as a background, but a great idea nonetheless! It's easy to tell that some serious determination went into this image, and the results are fantastic. 10/10 Nice work, Rob. :-)

That is soooooo frickin cool man. The most creative thing on this site basicly. I mean not only did you get everyones icons and make something out of them you made the little Caedes symbol and the border is cool too. Awesome job and effort man. 10/10 and in favorites.

But it reminds me of a software thanks to which it would have been automatic and much quickly done : do you know "Mazaika" ?
Of course you need a list of icons that you put into mazaika, then you make a simple drawing of the spider and the border in B&W, then you just have to ask Mazaika to make it for you ! and i guess the result would be really close to what you have done...
Check this software, it's free with some libraries included, and you'll be able to make other pictures as good as this one, but much quicker !
That's such a great idea for a background, you would have thought that many different small icon would make the image look overcrowded, but they actaully combine together really well. Well done on an excellent image, 10/10 is well deserved.
Rather than adding to the pile of congrats on the news page I generally like to visit one of the newly honored AOTW's images that I haven't seen before. In this case however, as I arrived at your gallery (randomly sorted), the very first image was this one which I commented on back when you first made it. I still think it is one of the most creative images I have seen on this site, and I still use it on my desktop today.
As someone who is generally more into the photography than the other types of images here, I really recognize your talent and originality and place your work among the best on this site. Artist of the Week is a well deserved honor for you so congratulations. Keep up the creative work. I'm looking forward to your photography. Maybe you could shoot something creative on the golf course. I've been meaning to try it myself but always too preoccupied with my game :)
