"El Galeon" is a replica of a typical 16th-17th Century merchant vessel. The Galleons took the lead role in trade & cultural routes named "The Indies Fleets" during the two centuries. The historic crew consisted of appox. 150 including mostly sailors with officers, gunners and soldiers (marines).

I spoke with a couple of the crew members yesterday and it took them 26 days to cross the Atlantic Ocean from the Mediterranean with a crew of only 20. They were leaving at mdnight (12:00am) today Aug. 16, 2016 heading for Duluth, Wisconsin. Took a picture of the 2 crew members & also gave me permission to use it if I pleased, may post them later on.

Captured this yesterday Monday, Aug 15 2016. This beauty was docked on our Boardwalk on the St. Mary's River in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Brought out more detail and added more colour in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and iPiccy.com to make it smaller in size.

Hope you have enjoyed the view and thank you in advance for you comments which are most welcomed.

Have a Sunny Day, ♥ Skates

PS: Leave tomorrow (Wednesday) morning to work at another skating competition in Rochester Michigan. Will be home Sunday late afternoon.

Very nice capture of the ship and pier with clear details. The ship looks sturdy and strong enough to face rough seas.

Gorgeous shot of this "tall ship" Pat _ I've always wanted to photograph when they come to Chicago but of course being that it's a big city there's a lot of cost involved.

Pat, my friend and colleague Raj, may have right in his above comment, but to me it's hardly to imagine that one has the courage to sail the seven seas with such a ship, but think that in my former career I was already 'spoiled' with all kind of sophisticated (electronic) equipment/devices, like radio transmitters, radar, electronic compass, etc. etc.
Must say however that when I saw such a ship passing by (there are a lot of other replica's throughout the world), it was almost an impressive sight.

Although moored now, it's an impressive sight as well, thanks to your very well taken capture! Perfectly done, my friend.

This is quite similar in design to the Mayflower , same time frame. You framed this so well and caught the colors just right , excellent photo Pat.

How cool that would be to sail across the Atlantic on that ship. Thanks for sharing.

A bit late for a career change, but if it's a pirate life you're wanting you've certainly have a great ship to start out with. A nice capture of the tall ship, Pat.
